    Masked Bandits on the Prairie

    Despite over a century of civilization on the Great Plains, we still have some “masked bandits” hanging around just like they did in the old West. These bandits don’t rob stage coaches, blow up railroad bridges or visit the saloon prior to robbing the bank, but they do have a violent side that is quite surprising for their diminutive size. These bandits were once common across most of North America, hanging out wherever there were shrub thickets or scattered small trees to hide in and attack from. These masked bandits are better known as shrikes.
