    Swans are “a-swimming” Across Nebraska this Winter.

    Building on my “Twelve birds of Christmas” from last month, we definitely have “Swans-a-swimming” across Nebraska this winter, and more than seven of them. From DeSoto Bend to Lake Ogallala, there have been observations of Trumpeter Swans this winter at many water bodies (Omaha area lakes, Calamus Reservoir, North Platte area water bodies and even sand pits along I-80), including groups of 40 to 50 or more in a couple locations. Even better is that in a few locations, there are Tundra Swans mixed in with the Trumpeter Swan, which is not all that common in Nebraska.
